Can we drink our borehole water?+
Only once it has been tested. Borehole water should be tested against SANS 241, the South African drinking water standard, and treated where results fall short. We test, design the treatment and monitor it afterwards.
How much water storage does a farm need?+
It depends on your daily demand and how many days of backup you want to hold. We size storage during the assessment rather than guessing.
Will the system keep running during power outages?+
A solar-powered pumping system keeps water moving without relying on the grid. We assess whether solar suits your site during the visit.
What happens after installation?+
We stay involved. Ongoing monitoring and compliance support keeps the system performing, and our authorised DAB Pumps service centre handles pump repairs.
Can iWater run our irrigation entirely off solar?+
Yes. Most South African farms have more than enough solar resource to run borehole and transfer pumps daytime-direct. We size the array and controller around your daily irrigation window plus a storage buffer for cloudy days.
How deep will you drill?+
Depth is dictated by the local geology and target yield. Our hydrogeologists interpret survey data first, then drill to the correct aquifer — typically 40 to 200 metres — and case the hole to protect long-term yield.
Can the same system serve livestock, irrigation and the homestead?+
Yes. We design multi-zone systems with separate treatment trains where required — livestock, drip irrigation and potable homestead water each get the treatment level they need from a common source.
What about water for firefighting?+
Bulk on-farm storage doubles as fire reserve. We can size tanks and pressure sets to meet insurance and SANS 10090 firefighting requirements at the same time as production demand.
What does a full farm assessment cost?+
The initial on-site assessment is free. We survey your existing sources, elevation, storage and demand, then present a costed turnkey design with clear ROI.
